Coorg: A 3-Day Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    20 minutes (7.5 kilometres) from Coorg City Centre

    In the morning, take a refreshing walk to the breathtaking Abbey Falls. The water cascades down from a height of 70ft amidst lush greenery. Spend some time taking in the beauty and clicking pictures. In the afternoon, head to Raja's Seat, a picturesque garden with a stunning view of the hills and valley. Enjoy a hot cup of coffee and snacks at the garden's cafe. In the evening, visit the Omkareshwara Temple, a unique blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture and take part in the evening aarti.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 10 minutes (30 kilometres) from Coorg City Centre

    Start your day by visiting the Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can watch elephants being bathed and trained. You can also take part in activities like elephant rides and coracle boat rides. In the afternoon, head to the Nisargadhama Eco Forest Park, an island formed by River Cauvery. Here you can enjoy boating, elephant rides, and visit the deer park. In the evening, visit the Golden Temple at Bylakuppe, also known as Namdroling Monastery, the largest teaching centre of Tibetan Buddhism.

  3. Day 3: Talacauvery and Bhagamandala
    1 hour 30 minutes (44 kilometres) from Coorg City Centre

    Start your day by visiting Talacauvery, the birthplace of the River Cauvery. Take a dip in the holy kund and seek blessings at the temple. In the afternoon, visit Bhagamandala, a holy place where the Rivers Cauvery, Kannike, and Sujyothi meet. Take a stroll around the temple and enjoy the serene surroundings. In the evening, head to the Madikeri Fort, a historical monument built-in 17th century AD. Enjoy the light and sound show that narrates the fort's history.

Do not miss out on the coffee plantations for a rejuvenating experience. You can also visit the Namdroling Monastery and experience the local Tibetan culture. For adventure enthusiasts, there are trekking, camping and rafting activities available at various locations. A side trip to the nearby Nagarhole National Park is also a great option.
