7-Day Itinerary for Kedarnath

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    5 minutes (0.5 km) from Kedarnath Helipad

    Visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu shrines in India. The morning Aarti takes place at 6:30 am, followed by Darshan and Puja. Afternoon and evening can be spent exploring the town.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal
    9 hours (21 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Embark on a trek to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake located at an altitude of approximately 4,150 meters. The trek is challenging but the views along the way make it worth it. It is recommended to start early in the morning.

  3. Day 3: Chorabari Tal
    7 hours (18 km) from Vasuki Tal

    Visit Chorabari Tal, also known as Gandhi Sarovar, a mesmerizing lake surrounded by snow-capped Himalayas. It is believed that Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed here. You can also trek to Kedartal from here.

  4. Day 4: Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour (5 km) from Chorabari Tal

    Explore the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a diverse range of flora and fauna including snow leopards, musk deer, and Himalayan black bears. You can go for a nature walk, bird watching or trek to Deoriatal.

  5. Day 5: Triyuginarayan Temple
    1 hour (30 km) from Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary

    Visit the ancient Triyuginarayan Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. It is surrounded by natural hot water springs and offers a scenic view of the Himalayas.

  6. Day 6: Guptkashi
    1 hour (27 km) from Triyuginarayan Temple

    Explore the scenic town of Guptkashi, known for its ancient Vishwanath Temple and Ardhnareshwar Temple. You can also visit the Manikarnika Kund, a natural hot water spring, and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Himalayas.

  7. Day 7: Gaurikund
    1 hour (30 km) from Guptkashi

    Visit Gaurikund, the base camp for the Kedarnath trek, and take a dip in the natural hot water spring of Gauri Kund. You can also visit the Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva Temple in the world, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the surroundings.

Recommendations

You can also visit the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi in Kedarnath, the Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth who established the Char Dhams in India. You can also take a side trip to Badrinath, another important Hindu pilgrimage site situated in Uttarakhand.
