4-Day Itinerary for Sikkim in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Gangtok
    10 minutes (2.1 km) from Pakyong Airport

    Start your day with a visit to the Enchey Monastery, where you can witness monks chanting their morning prayers. After that, head to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology to learn about the history of Buddhism in Sikkim. In the afternoon, visit the Do Drul Chorten Stupa and the nearby Flower Exhibition Centre. In the evening, take a stroll along the MG Marg and try some local street food.

  2. Day 2: Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir
    56 minutes (38.5 km) from Gangtok

    Start early in the morning to beat the crowd at Tsomgo Lake. Enjoy the serene beauty of the lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. After that, head to Baba Mandir, a revered temple dedicated to an Indian Army soldier who lost his life in the Indo-China war. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Nathula Pass, which is a border crossing between India and China.

  3. Day 3: Pelling
    3 hours 30 minutes (115 km) from Gangtok

    Drive to Pelling and spend the morning admiring the Kanchenjunga Waterfalls. After that, visit the Pemayangtse Monastery, which is one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Sikkim. In the afternoon, visit the Rabdentse Ruins, which was once the second capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim. End the day with a visit to the Sangachoeling Monastery, which is located on a hilltop and offers stunning views of the surrounding valley.

  4. Day 4: Yuksom
    1 hour 20 minutes (40 km) from Pelling

    Drive to Yuksom and visit the Dubdi Monastery, which is the oldest monastery in Sikkim. After that, go on a short trek to the Khecheopalri Lake, which is considered sacred by both Buddhists and Hindus. In the afternoon, visit the Tashi Tenka Museum to learn about the history and culture of Sikkim. End the day with a visit to the Norbugang Park, where the first King of Sikkim was crowned.
