Two-Day Wayanad Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    30 minutes (12 miles) from Kalpetta

    Morning: Explore the prehistoric Edakkal Caves that depict the life of the Neolithic inhabitants. The 1.2km trek to the caves offers a scenic view of the Ambukuthi hills. Afternoon: Visit the Wayanad Heritage Museum to learn about the history and culture of Wayanad, and the Jain temple inside the museum. Evening: Enjoy the natural beauty of the Chembra Peak, which is the highest peak in Wayanad. You can trek to the top or take a jeep ride to the base camp.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 10 minutes (31 miles) from Kalpetta

    Morning: Visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India. You can also enjoy boating in the lake formed by the dam. Afternoon: Visit the Pookode Lake, a natural freshwater lake surrounded by forests and hills. Enjoy boating or a nature walk. Evening: Trek to the Meenmutty Waterfalls, which is a three-tiered waterfall, and take a refreshing dip in the pool.
