In the morning, travel to the foothills of Chembra Peak and go on a challenging trek to the top. Marvel at the heart-shaped lake on the way up and soak in the stunning view from the summit. Afternoon, take a short drive to Pookode Lake, a freshwater lake surrounded by lush greenery. Enjoy a serene boat ride in the lake and spot some of the exotic fishes. Begin your second day by taking a jeep safari to Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary early in the morning. Spot some of the endangered species like elephants, leopards and tigers. Afternoon, drive down to Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. Take a boat ride in the dam's reservoir and admire the mesmerizing view of the surrounding hills. Evening, relax in the tranquil surroundings of the dam whilst watching the sunset.
Don't miss the Soochipara Waterfalls, located just 18 km from Kalpetta. The waterfall drops from a height of 200 metres and offers a breathtaking view. Other interesting places to visit include the Thirunelli temple, Lakkidi viewpoint, and the Jain Temple Wayanad. If you have some extra time, consider taking a day trip to the nearby Nagarhole National Park or the Bandipur National Park.
