Cultural Immersion Itinerary in Rameswaram for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Ramanathaswamy Temple
10 minutes (2 km) from Rameswaram Bus Stand

In the morning, visit the Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the most significant pilgrimage sites for Hindus. This temple is famous for its stunning architecture and is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples in India. Spend the afternoon at the Water Bird Sanctuary, a serene spot for bird watching. In the evening, explore the former residence of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the late President of India, at the House of Kalam Museum.

  2. Day 2: Dhanushkodi
30 minutes (18 km) from Rameswaram Bus Stand

Begin your day by visiting the Gandhi Memorial, a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Then head to Dhanushkodi, a ghost town destroyed by a cyclone in 1964. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean meeting at the tip of the town. After lunch, visit the Pamban Bridge, the first cantilever bridge in India, which connects Rameswaram to mainland India. In the evening, watch the sunset at Agnitheertham Beach, a popular spot for pilgrims to take a dip in the holy waters.
