Exploring Wayanad's Adventurous Side in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Trek to Chembra Peak

    Start your day with a morning trek to Chembra Peak - the highest peak in Wayanad with an elevation of 2100m. The trek will take about 3 hours and will lead you through breathtaking landscapes and a heart-shaped lake. In the afternoon, head to Pookode Lake, a natural freshwater body surrounded by forests and enjoy a scenic boat ride. End your day with a visit to the Edakkal Caves, where you can witness ancient petroglyphs dating back to the Neolithic era.

  2. Day 2: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour (22.3 miles) from Kalpetta

    Embark on a jungle safari in Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in the morning, which is home to various species of flora and fauna including elephants, tigers, leopards and more. After the safari, visit the Soochipara Waterfalls, a three-tiered waterfall located in the midst of dense forests. In the evening, explore the Chain Tree - a giant Ficus tree with a mythological story and a popular spot for night camping.

  3. Day 3: Caving at Muthanga
    40 minutes (17.1 miles) from Kalpetta

    Begin your day with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India. Enjoy a speedboat ride and take a walk on the dam. Next, head to Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary and go caving at the caves located inside the sanctuary. In the evening, visit the Thirunelli Temple, which is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
