Two-Day Itinerary for Rishikesh

Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, Rishikesh is known as the Yoga Capital of the World. The city, situated on the banks of river Ganges, is dotted with temples, ashrams, and adventure activities such as white-water rafting. Here's a two-day itinerary to explore the best of Rishikesh.

  1. Day 1: Triveni Ghat
15 minutes (3.5 km) from Rishikesh Bus Stand

Start your day by visiting Triveni Ghat, a place where the three holy rivers - Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati meet. Take a dip in the holy water, witness the morning aarti at the ghat, and savor some local breakfast at one of the nearby stalls. In the afternoon, visit the Beatles Ashram, also known as Chaurasi Kutia, where the Fab Four stayed in the late '60s. Walkthrough the graffitied walls of the abandoned ashram and soak in the artistic vibes. In the evening, head to Parmarth Niketan Ashram to witness the grand Ganga Aarti, followed by dinner at one of the rooftop cafes near the ashram.

  2. Day 2: Neer Garh Waterfall
30 minutes (10 km) from Rishikesh Bus Stand

Start your day by heading to the Neer Garh Waterfall, situated in the midst of a dense forest and accessible via a short trek. Take a refreshing dip in the waterfall and witness the breathtaking views of the valley from the top. In the afternoon, visit the Lakshman Jhula, an iron suspension bridge over Ganga, which is believed to have been crossed by Lord Rama's brother Lakshman. Shop for some souvenirs, try some street food, and visit some of the nearby temples. In the evening, head to The Beatles Cafe for a musical night and dinner.
