3-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Varkala in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Varkala Beach and Cliff

    Start your day with a visit to Janardhana Swamy Temple, a 2000-year-old shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Take a dip in the holy waters of the Papanasam Beach, located nearby. In the afternoon, head to Anjengo Fort, a historical monument built by the British East India Company in the 17th century. Explore the ruins and learn about the colonial history of the region. In the evening, relax and watch the sunset at Kappil Beach, where the backwater meets the sea.

  3. Day 3: Ponnumthuruthu Island and Varkala Lighthouse
