Admire the beauty of nature at Ooty Botanical Gardens. The gardens are home to a vast collection of exotic plants, trees and flowers. Take a 10-minute trek to the top and be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The mountain is covered with sholas, a unique ecosystem of stunted evergreen trees that are found only in the Nilgiris. In the afternoon, visit Avalanche Lake, located 10 km away from Doddabetta Peak. The serene lake is surrounded by a dense forest teeming with wildlife, and is perfect for a picnic. In the evening, head to St. Stephen's Church, located 30 minutes (10 km) away from the lake, and admire the stunning colonial architecture and beautiful stained glass windows.
