Kedarnath Adventure Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    Located in the Kedarnath town

    Get ready to experience an adventurous day as you visit one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. Kedarnath Temple, located at an altitude of 3,583 meters in the Himalayan range, is a beautiful stone edifice that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Begin your day by taking the trek to Kedarnath from Gaurikund, which is a 14 km trek through scenic Himalayan beauty. The trek is challenging but will leave you with a sense of achievement. Upon arrival, you can have a darshan of the temple and take part in the evening aarti. Spend the night in Kedarnath.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal Lake
    Located 6 km (1 hour trek) from Kedarnath Temple

    After an early breakfast, embark on a trek to Vasuki Tal Lake, situated at an altitude of 4,150 meters. The trek is challenging but the views are worth the effort. The lake is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and is a popular spot for camping. Spend the day enjoying the views and indulge in some bird watching. Return to Kedarnath for an overnight stay.

  3. Day 3: Sonprayag
    Located 20 km (1 hour drive) from Kedarnath Temple

    After breakfast, take a drive to Sonprayag, situated at an altitude of 1,829 meters. This small town is located at the confluence of two rivers, Basuki and Mandakini, and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Spend the day exploring the town and indulge in some adventure activities such as rafting, trekking, and rock climbing. Spend the night in Sonprayag.

  4. Day 4: Triyuginarayan Temple
    Located 28 km (1 hour drive) from Sonprayag
    Distance from Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun: 195 km (7 hours drive)

    Begin your day by driving to Triyuginarayan Temple, located at an altitude of 1,980 meters in the Rudraprayag district. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is famous for the eternal flame that burns in front of it. The temple is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married. After visiting the temple, drive back to Jolly Grant Airport to catch your flight back home.

Recommendations

If you have more time, you can consider visiting Guptkashi, which is located 49 km (2 hours drive) from Kedarnath. This small town is famous for its temples and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. You can also consider taking a day trip to the beautiful town of Badrinath, which is located 155 km (6 hours drive) from Kedarnath.

To maximize your fun, make sure you are well-prepared for the treks and carry appropriate gear and clothing. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks to keep you going throughout the day. Also, don't forget to carry a camera to capture the beautiful views.
