3-Day Adventure Itinerary in Wayanad - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    30 minutes (7.5 miles) from Kalpetta

    Morning: Start your adventure with a trek to the heart-shaped Chembra Peak. The hike will take around 3-4 hours, but the stunning view of the Wayanad hill ranges from the top is worth it. Don't forget to carry water and snacks.
    Afternoon: Head to the Soochipara Waterfalls for a refreshing dip and to enjoy the scenic beauty of the falls. The water is safe for swimming, and there are changing rooms available.
    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Edakkal Caves, containing etchings dating back to the Neolithic era. The hike to the caves takes around 45 minutes, but the views from the top are breathtaking.

  2. Day 2: Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour (19.5 miles) from Kalpetta

    Morning: Start your day with a safari at the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, home to elephants, tigers, leopards, deer, and a wide variety of birds. The safari takes around 2 hours, and you can also opt for a guided nature walk.
    Afternoon: Head to the Bamboo Forests of Muthanga for a serene walk amidst the bamboo groves before enjoying a traditional Kerala lunch at one of the local restaurants.
    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Kuruva Island, known for its picturesque landscapes and rare species of birds, orchids, and herbs. The raft ride to the island is a unique experience in itself.

  3. Day 3: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 20 minutes (27.5 miles) from Kalpetta

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. The dam is surrounded by lush green mountains and provides stunning views of the surrounding area. You can also opt for a speedboat ride on the lake.
    Afternoon: Head to the Wayanad Adventure Camp for some adrenaline-pumping activities like ziplining, rock climbing, and rappelling. The camp offers both half-day and full-day packages.
    Evening: End your trip by visiting the Pookode Lake, a natural freshwater lake surrounded by forests and hills. You can enjoy a peaceful boat ride on the lake while enjoying the serene beauty of the surroundings.
