2-Day Itinerary for Wayanad in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 9 minutes (22.2 km) from Kalpetta

    Morning: Trek to the heart-shaped lake at the top of Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the surroundings from the peak.
    Afternoon: Visit Pookode Lake, a natural freshwater lake surrounded by lush greenery. Take a boat ride and spot some of the freshwater fishes that are unique to this lake.
    Evening: Explore the ancient Edakkal Caves that feature ancient petroglyphs and rock art. Learn about the history and significance of the site from the guides.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 3 minutes (22.3 km) from Sulthan Bathery

    Morning: Start your day by visiting Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. Enjoy the scenic views of the dam and the surrounding mountains.
    Afternoon: Visit Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Take a jeep safari and spot some of the endangered species such as the Indian elephant and Bengal tiger.
    Evening: End your day by visiting the Thirunelli Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Explore the intricate carvings and architecture of the temple and take part in the evening puja.

If you have time, don't miss out on the Soochipara Waterfalls, Kuruva Island, and the Jain Temple Wayanad.
