  1. Day 1: Swayambhunath Stupa
10 minutes (2.5 miles) from Tribhuvan International Airport

Start your day early and ride to the Monkey Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The stupa’s white dome and glittering golden spire are visible from many parts of Kathmandu, making it a great starting point. In the morning, the place is usually less crowded, and you can have a peaceful time exploring the temple and enjoying the breathtaking views of the city. In the afternoon, take a ride to Thamel, the heart of the city's tourist district, and enjoy the vibrant street life and delicious food options. In the evening, head to the Garden of Dreams for a relaxing time in a beautiful neoclassical garden.

  2. Day 2: Patan Durbar Square
30 minutes (6 miles) from Swayambhunath Stupa

Start your day with a ride to Patan Durbar Square, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the beautiful ancient palaces, temples, and courtyards. Next, ride to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants in the area that offer a stunning view of the stupa. In the evening, visit Pashupatinath Temple, a Hindu temple complex on the banks of the Bagmati River, and witness the Aarti ceremony.

  3. Day 3: Bhaktapur Durbar Square
40 minutes (8 miles) from Pashupatinath Temple

Today, ride to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the third UNESCO World Heritage Site on this itinerary, and explore the ancient temples, palaces, and courtyards. Afterward, ride to Nagarkot, a beautiful hill station, and enjoy the panoramic view of the Himalayas. Have lunch at one of the many restaurants in the area that offer a stunning view of the mountains. In the evening, ride back to Kathmandu and enjoy a well-deserved rest at your hotel.

  4. Day 4: Sankhu and Bajra Jogini Temple
1 hour (15 miles) from Nagarkot

Ride to Sankhu, an ancient town that still preserves the traditional culture and architecture of Nepal. Visit the Shankha Narayan Temple, dedicated to Vishnu, and explore the narrow alleys and traditional houses of the town. Next, ride to Bajra Jogini Temple, situated on a hilltop, and enjoy the scenic view of the valley. Have lunch at the temple's restaurant and then ride back to Kathmandu. In the evening, head to Jhamsikhel, a trendy neighborhood, and enjoy the live music, food, and drinks.

Recommendations

Don't miss the opportunity to take a day trip to Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and home to the Bengal tiger, one-horned rhinoceros, and many other endangered species. Another great day trip option is a visit to the ancient city of Bhaktapur, located just 20 minutes from Kathmandu. For adventure seekers, a motorcycle ride to Pokhara, a beautiful city located around 200 kilometers from Kathmandu, is a must-do.

To maximize your fun, consider hiring a local guide who can show you the hidden gems of Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. Also, make sure to try the delicious local food, including momos, aloo tikki, and lassi, to name a few.
