A Relaxing 2-Day Itinerary in Rishikesh, July 2023

  1. Day 1: Triveni Ghat
    15 minutes (3.5 km) from Rishikesh Bus Stand

    Start your day at Triveni Ghat, a sacred ghat situated on the banks of the holy Ganges river. Witness the beautiful morning aarti (prayer) ceremony that takes place every day. Take a dip in the river to cleanse your soul and find inner peace. After lunch, visit the Beatles Ashram, also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram, where The Beatles once stayed to meditate and write songs. The abandoned ashram has now become a popular tourist attraction covered in street art and graffiti. In the evening, visit the Lakshman Jhula, an iron suspension bridge over the Ganges river, and enjoy the cool breeze and mesmerizing sunset views.

  2. Day 2: Neer Garh Waterfall
    1 hour (8.5 km) from Triveni Ghat

    Start your day early and take a refreshing dip in the Neer Garh Waterfall, situated amidst lush green forest. The waterfall is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is a perfect place to relax and unwind. Afterward, visit the Parmarth Niketan Ashram, a spiritual haven located on the banks of the Ganges river. The ashram offers yoga and meditation classes, as well as Ganga Aarti in the evening. In the afternoon, head to the Rajaji National Park, which is a 1-hour drive from Parmarth Niketan Ashram, to explore the diverse flora and fauna of the area.

Recommendations

If you are looking for more adventure, try white water rafting in the Ganges river or bungee jumping at Jumpin Heights. For a day trip, visit the Haridwar, another holy city located only 30 minutes from Rishikesh. Finally, don't forget to try the delicious local food, especially the street food and chaat.
