2-Day Itinerary for Coorg in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    20 minutes (7.5 miles) from Madikeri

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the stunning Abbey Falls, a popular tourist attraction in Coorg. View the waterfall cascading down from a height of 70 feet, surrounded by lush greenery and coffee plantations, and listen to the sounds of nature while taking in the fresh air.

    Afternoon: Enjoy a quick lunch at one of the many local restaurants near the falls and then head to the Namdroling Monastery, also known as the Golden Temple. Walk around the beautiful temple grounds, witness the daily rituals, and admire the intricate Tibetan architecture.

    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Raja's Seat, a scenic viewpoint overlooking the valley. Watch the sunset, take a stroll in the beautiful garden, and enjoy the musical fountain show.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp
    45 minutes (17 miles) from Madikeri

    Morning: Head to the Dubare Elephant Camp, situated on the banks of the Kaveri River, and interact with the majestic creatures. Take a bath with the elephants, learn about their behavior, and watch the mahouts (handlers) train them.

    Afternoon: Have a delicious lunch at the camp and learn about the history and culture of Coorg at the Madikeri Fort. The fort dates back to the 17th century and houses several artifacts and exhibits, including weaponry and sculptures.

    Evening: End your trip with a visit to the Talacauvery and Bhagamandala temple, situated at the foothills of the Brahmagiri mountains. Take a dip in the holy waters of the Talacauvery, the birthplace of the sacred Kaveri River, and witness the daily poojas (worship) at the Bhagamandala temple.
