4-Day Itinerary in Pune for City Experiences in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Shaniwar Wada Palace
    15 minutes (3.5 km) from Pune International Airport

    For the morning, visit Shaniwar Wada Palace, a historical landmark and former seat of power for the Maratha Empire. Built-in 1732, the palace is known for its intricate architecture and impressive fountains. In the afternoon, head to Aga Khan Palace, which played a significant role in India's freedom struggle. The palace is a serene and peaceful place, and it also houses a museum with many exhibits that tell the story of Indian independence. In the evening, experience the nightlife and dine at the famous German Bakery in Koregaon Park. The bakery is known for its exotic cakes, sandwiches and refreshing beverages.

  2. Day 2: Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple
    20 minutes (5.2 km) from Shaniwar Wada Palace

    Begin the day by visiting Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha and famous for its beautiful architecture, grand celebrations and positive vibes. In the afternoon, visit the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, which showcases a vast collection of Indian artifacts and handicrafts. End the day with a visit to the Pune Okayama Friendship Garden, a beautiful park with stunning gardens, a lake and a temple. This park is an excellent place to relax, unwind and meditate.

  3. Day 3: Sinhagad Fort

    Take a day trip to Sinhagad Fort. The fort is a popular spot for trekking and hiking, and offers stunning panoramic views of the landscape. Along the way, stop at Panshet Dam, which is an excellent spot for water sports and adventure activities. Get your adrenaline fix by trying your hand at kayaking, jet skiing or speed boating. Return to Pune in the evening for dinner at the famous Vohuman Café, which is known for its delicious Iranian cuisine and baked goods.

  4. Day 4: Mahatma Phule Market
    15 minutes (3.7 km) from Vohuman Cafe

    Start the morning at Mahatma Phule Market, which is one of the oldest markets in Pune and is known for its fresh produce, spices and street food. Afterward, visit the Osho International Meditation Resort, a tranquil and spiritual ashram offering various meditation programs and therapies. In the evening, visit the Phoenix Marketcity Mall, which is the largest shopping mall in Pune. The mall has a wide range of shops, restaurants and entertainment options, making it an excellent place for some last-minute souvenir shopping and a final meal before departing Pune.

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Parvati Hill Temple, the Chaturshringi Temple or the Shinde Chhatri Memorial. For a day trip, visit the Ajanta and Ellora Caves, which are UNESCO World Heritage sites known for their historical and architectural significance. You can also take a trip to Lonavala, a scenic hill station and popular weekend getaway from Pune.
