3-Day Itinerary for Thekadi, Munnar, and Varkala in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Thekkady
    4 hours and 45 minutes (112 miles) from Cochin International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, a beautiful reserve that is home to tigers, elephants, and other wildlife. Take a boat ride on the Periyar Lake and observe the animals in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, explore the Mangala Devi Temple, a famous Hindu temple located in the dense forests of Thekkady. Take a nature walk in the evening around the Kumily town and visit the spice markets where you can see and buy different spices.

  2. Day 2: Munnar
    3 hours and 25 minutes (80 miles) from Thekkady

    Start your day by experiencing the beautiful sunrise over the tea plantations of Munnar. Visit the Mattupetty Dam, a concrete gravity dam that is a popular picnic spot. In the afternoon, enjoy a trek to Echo Point, located at an altitude of 600 ft. above sea level, where you can hear your voice echo. In the evening, visit the Tea Museum to learn about the tea processing and history of the region.

  3. Day 3: Varkala
    5 hours and 30 minutes (128 miles) from Munnar

    Start your day by visiting the Varkala Beach, a beautiful beach located in the southern part of Kerala. Enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and beach activities. In the afternoon, visit the Janardana Swami Temple, a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In the evening, explore the Varkala Cliff, a scenic spot on top of the red laterite cliffs that overlooks the Arabian Sea.
