3-Day Wayanad Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    40 minutes (12.3 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your day early at Edakkal Caves, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Wayanad. The caves are known for their ancient rock art and take a short trek to reach the top. The view from the top is breathtaking and a must-see in Wayanad. Spend your afternoon at the Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall located in a dense forest. Go for a dip in the refreshing water and enjoy the lush green surroundings. End your day at the Chembra Peak, one of the highest peaks in Wayanad. The trek to the top may take a few hours, but the view is worth the effort.

  2. Day 2: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    35 minutes (11.2 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your morning at the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of animals like elephants, tigers, and leopards. Take a Jeep Safari through the sanctuary and soak in the beauty of nature. Afternoon, visit the Pookode Lake, a picturesque freshwater lake surrounded by green hills and trees. You can go boating, enjoy the delicious local food, and shop for souvenirs here. End the day at Banasura Sagar Dam, the second-largest earth dam in Asia. The dam is surrounded by the Banasura Hills and offers a spectacular view.

  3. Day 3: Thirunelli Temple
    1 hour 30 minutes (51.4 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your morning at the Thirunelli Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is located amidst beautiful green hills and is believed to be one of the holiest places in Kerala. Spend your afternoon at the Kuruvadweep, a group of islands located on the Kabini River. The islands are a natural paradise and are home to a variety of birds and animals. End your day at the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, a popular wildlife sanctuary located in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Take a jeep safari and enjoy the beauty of nature.
