3-Day Relaxation Itinerary for Coorg in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    30 minutes (13.5 km) from Madikeri

    Start your day by visiting the picturesque Abbey Falls, a stunning waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Take a 10-minute trek to reach the falls, where you can witness the water cascading down from a height of 70 feet. Spend your morning enjoying the beauty of the falls and taking pictures. Afterward, head to the nearby Raintree restaurant for a delicious lunch of Coorgi cuisine. In the afternoon, visit the Omkareshwara Temple, a beautiful shrine with Islamic and Gothic styles of architecture, and learn about its interesting history.   2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 20 minutes (37 km) from Madikeri

    Start your day early at the Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can learn about and interact with these majestic creatures. Take a 30-minute walk through the forest to reach the camp, where you can watch the elephants being bathed and fed. Afterward, you can even take an elephant ride or enjoy a coracle ride in the Cauvery River. For lunch, head to the River Tern Lodge, which offers a beautiful view of the river. In the evening, visit the Nisargadhama Island, an eco-park with a hanging bridge, deer park, and boating facilities. End your day by enjoying a relaxing dinner at the family-run Coorg Cuisine.

  3. Day 3: Talakaveri
    2 hours 30 minutes (84 km) from Madikeri

    Start your day by driving to the scenic Talakaveri, considered the birthplace of the river Kaveri. Take a dip in the holy tank and visit the temple dedicated to Lord Brahma. Afterward, head to the nearby Bhagamandala to see the confluence of the Kaveri, Kannika, and Sujyothi rivers. For lunch, visit the popular Taste of Coorg restaurant, which offers a variety of local dishes. In the afternoon, visit the Madikeri Fort, a historical monument built in the 17th century, and learn about the history of the region. End your day with dinner at the Coorg Cuisine restaurant.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Namdroling Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in Coorg. You can also take a day trip to the nearby Nagarhole National Park, which is known for its wildlife, including tigers, elephants, and leopards.
