Baščaršija is the heart of the old town of Sarajevo. It is a bustling bazaar filled with shops, cafes, and traditional Bosnian restaurants. Visitors can also check out the Sebilj Fountain, a symbol of the city, and the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, one of the largest and most important mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Sarajevo War Tunnel was built by the Bosnian Army during the Siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s. It served as a lifeline for the city, allowing supplies to be brought in and people to flee. Today, it serves as a museum, with exhibits showcasing life during the siege and the importance of the tunnel.
Most attractions can be easily explored on foot. Taxis and public transportation are also available. A one-way ticket for public transportation costs 1.80 BAM ($1).
If you have extra time, consider visiting the Yellow Fortress for panoramic views of the city or the Latin Bridge, where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, sparking World War I. If you have less time, consider skipping the Sarajevo War Tunnel.
Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ) is located 6 km southwest of the city center. The airport offers several transportation options, including taxis and public transportation.
