Experiencing Wayanad in 2 Days - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Banasura Sagar Dam
    40 minutes (19.5km) from Kalpetta

Start your day with a visit to Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. The lush greenery and the serene freshwater reservoir make this an ideal spot for photography. Enjoy a boat ride on the reservoir and take in the magnificent view of the surrounding hills. After a morning of relaxation, head to the nearby Banasura Hill Resort for lunch. This eco-resort offers an organic farm tour, a trek to Banasura Peak, and ziplining. Spend the afternoon indulging in these activities or relax at the resort's infinity pool. End your day with a visit to the Kuruva Island, a serene island surrounded by Kabini River. Take a walk along the bamboo bridge and explore the island's flora and fauna.

  2. Day 2: Edakkal Caves
1 hour 10 minutes (36km) from Sulthan Bathery

Begin your day with a visit to the Edakkal Caves, a natural wonder of Wayanad. These caves have prehistoric carvings that date back to 6000 BCE. The hike up to the caves is strenuous, but the view from the top is worth it. After the hike, head to the nearby Karapuzha Dam for a picnic lunch. Spend the afternoon at the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to various species of flora and fauna, including tigers, elephants, and leopards. Take a jeep safari through the sanctuary and enjoy the beautiful scenery. End your day with a visit to the Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall that offers a relaxing and refreshing experience.
