In the morning, explore the Madikeri Fort that was built in the 17th century by Mudduraja. The fort has a palace, a temple, and a prison. In the afternoon, ride 30 minutes (16 km) to Abbey Falls, a beautiful waterfall that is surrounded by coffee and spice plantations. You can take a dip in the pool at the bottom of the falls. In the evening, head to Raja's Seat, a garden with stunning views of the sunset and the hills.
In the morning, visit Nisargadhama, a beautiful island surrounded by the Cauvery river. The island has a deer park, an orchidarium, and elephant rides. In the afternoon, ride 30 minutes (14 km) to Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can watch the elephants being bathed and fed. You can also go for a coracle ride (a circular boat made of bamboo) on the river. In the evening, visit the Namdroling Monastery, which houses over 5000 Tibetan monks.
If you have extra time on Day 2, you can visit the Talakaveri temple (source of the Cauvery river) and Bhagamandala (confluence of three rivers). Both places are about a 2-hour ride from Madikeri. To maximize your fun, make sure to wear comfortable clothing, carry sunscreen and insect repellent, and always wear a helmet while riding.
