4-Day Nature Itinerary for Kedarnath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Kedarnath Helipad

    In the morning, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the holiest pilgrimage destinations for Hindus. After offering your prayers, take a walk around the temple and take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, hike to Gandhi Sarovar - a serene lake located at a height of 14,000 feet. In the evening, attend the evening aarti (prayer) at the temple, a beautiful and spiritual experience that you don't want to miss.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal
    1 hour (8 km) from Kedarnath

    In the morning, take a trek to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake surrounded by scenic beauty. The trek starts from Kedarnath and takes about 6-7 hours to complete. In the afternoon, enjoy a picnic lunch by the lake. In the evening, trek back to Kedarnath and rest for the night.

  3. Day 3: Sonprayag Waterfall
    1 hour 15 minutes (21 km) from Kedarnath

    In the morning, drive to Sonprayag Waterfall and enjoy the beautiful views of the waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Take a dip in the cool water and relax for a while. In the afternoon, visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married according to Hindu mythology. In the evening, return to Kedarnath and rest for the night.

  4. Day 4: Chorabari Tal
    3 hours (12.5 km) from Kedarnath

    In the morning, take a trek to Chorabari Tal, a beautiful alpine lake surrounded by stunning mountains. The trek starts from Kedarnath and takes about 4-5 hours to complete. In the afternoon, enjoy a picnic lunch by the lake. In the evening, trek back to Kedarnath and rest for the night.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the nearby town of Guptkashi and exploring its beautiful temples. You may also want to take a day trip to the nearby town of Joshimath and visit the Nanda Devi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To maximize your fun, make sure to pack comfortable walking shoes, warm clothes for the chilly evenings, and a waterproof jacket in case of rain.
