7-Day Adventure Itinerary in Puerto Rico

  • Day 1: Hike in El Yunque National Forest
    30 minutes (20 miles) from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU)

    Start off your adventure in Puerto Rico by visiting the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. El Yunque offers plenty of hiking trails, but one of the most popular hikes leads to the top of La Mina Falls. Toro Verde is home to the longest single run zipline in the world at a jaw-dropping 1.5 miles! This is an event you won’t want to miss!

  • Day 4: Go Surfing in Rincon
    1 hour and 30 minutes (67 miles) from Toro Verde Nature Adventure

    Head over to Rincon, famous for being the birthplace of surfing in Puerto Rico. With some of the best waves in the Caribbean, you can either catch some great waves or just chill out on the beautiful beach. You can also check out a lighthouse or go snorkeling in the clear blue waters.

  • Day 5: Explore Culebra Island
    1 hour and 30 minutes (84 miles) from Rincon

    Take a day trip to the tranquil island of Culebra, famous for its pristine beaches, clear waters, and sea turtles. Take in the breathtaking views from atop Mount Resaca or explore some of the less-known beaches. Go snorkeling or diving and check out the amazing coral reefs and marine life in the area.

  • Day 6: Climbing in the Arecibo Observatory Caverns
    1 hour and 20 minutes (40 miles) from Culebra Island

    The Arecibo Observatory is known for its massive radio-telescope, however you cannot skip the caverns. You can actually rappel into these underground wonders and climb through some narrow spaces (not for those afraid of heights!).

  • Day 7: Visit Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve
    1 hour (59 miles) from Arecibo Observatory Caverns

    Visit the Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve and enjoy the four different ecosystems and trails, as this conservation exhibits a lighthouse at the end of the reserved land. You’ll also be able to discover the Bioluminescent Bay while kayaking through the waters.
