Built in 1896, the City Hall is the most important building in town. It represents the beginning of national revival and the awakening of the Bosnian spirit. After exploring the historic City Hall, take a short walk to the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, built in the 16th century, which is one of the largest mosques in the country. Afterwards, visit the Baščaršija Bazaar , which is the main market square in the city and is famous for its traditional souvenirs and food.
Begin the day with a visit to the Bijela tabija Fortress which was built during the Ottoman empire to protect the city. From there, you can enjoy stunning views of Sarajevo. Then, head to the Yellow Fortress also known as "Jekovac," which is located in the heart of the city. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the city, and then take a short walk to the Sarajevo Cable Car that will take you to the top of the Trebević Mountain. End the day with a traditional Bosnian meal at the Sebilj Restaurant located in the old town.
Begin the day by visiting the Tunnel Museum which is located near the airport and is a reminder of the war events from 1992-95. Explore the museum and learn about how the city survived the longest siege in modern history. Afterwards, take a short walk to the Grave of the Heart park which was created in memory of the children who died during the siege. Next, visit the Sarajevo War Museum which will give you an in-depth look into the war history of the city. End the day with a relaxing walk through Wilson’s Promenade, named after President Woodrow Wilson, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the city.
For those who have more time, a visit to the Latin Bridge and the Sarajevo National Theatre are highly recommended. For those who have less time, the Sarajevo War Museum can be skipped. It is also recommended to try Bosnian coffee and Bosnian pies (Burek and Pita).
