Two Days in Kuwait in July 2023

  1. Day 1: The Grand Mosque
    15 minutes (6.5 miles) from Kuwait International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. The mosque is open to non-Muslims for guided tours. Spend the afternoon at the Scientific Center, an ocean-themed education and leisure center. It has an aquarium, IMAX theater, and several exhibits on marine life. In the evening, visit the Souq Al-Mubarakiya, a traditional market selling a wide range of goods, including spices, textiles, and handicrafts.

  2. Day 2: The Avenues Mall
    10 minutes (3.5 miles) from The Grand Mosque

    Start the day at the Avenues Mall, one of the largest malls in the Middle East. It has a wide range of stores, including high-end and luxury brands. Spend the afternoon at the Kuwait Towers, a group of three towers offering views of the city and the Persian Gulf. In the evening, visit the Mirror House, a unique and artistic house decorated with mirrors and mosaics.

Recommendations

Consider visiting the Tareq Rajab Museum of Islamic Calligraphy and House of Mirrors. For a day trip, visit Failaka Island, an archaeological site with Greek ruins and a museum. To maximize your fun, try some traditional Kuwaiti food, such as machboos (spiced rice with meat) and balaleet (vermicelli pudding).
