Three Day Nature Itinerary in Rishikesh, July 2023

  1. Day 1: Triveni Ghat
    10 minutes (2.4 km) from Rishikesh Bus Stand

    In the morning, visit Triveni Ghat, a sacred spot where three rivers- Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati- converge. Take a holy dip in the river, and attend the Maha Aarti ceremony in the evening. You can also shop for souvenirs in the local market nearby. For lunch, enjoy the local cuisine at one of the many restaurants overlooking the river. In the afternoon, head to the Beatles Ashram, an abandoned ashram that was once home to the famous band, The Beatles. Explore the murals and graffiti by local artists, and take a walk through the forest to reach the ashram. In the evening, explore the local cafes in Laxman Jhula, and enjoy the stunning sunset view over the river.

  2. Day 2: Rajaji National Park
    1 hour 10 minutes (25 km) from Rishikesh Bus Stand

    In the morning, head to Rajaji National Park and go for a jeep safari to spot the diverse wildlife, including elephants, tigers, and leopards. Make sure to carry binoculars and a camera to capture the beautiful flora and fauna. For lunch, carry a picnic basket and enjoy a meal while taking in the scenic views of the park. In the afternoon, visit the Neer Garh Waterfall, a hidden gem located in the outskirts of Rishikesh. Take a dip in the cool water and rejuvenate yourself in the lap of nature. In the evening, return to Rishikesh and try out the local street food in the market near Ram Jhula.

  3. Day 3: Kunjapuri Temple
    1 hour 20 minutes (30 km) from Rishikesh Bus Stand

    In the morning, drive to Kunjapuri Temple, located atop a hill at an altitude of 1676 meters. Trek to the top of the hill to witness a breathtaking panoramic view of the Himalayan range. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Shakti and is considered to be one of the 52 shaktipeeths. For lunch, head to the roadside eateries and try out delicious local delicacies like Kachori and Chole Bhature. In the afternoon, visit the Vashishta Gufa, a famous meditation and yoga center. Seek blessings from the saint and indulge in meditation. In the evening, return to Rishikesh and enjoy a peaceful stroll along the scenic Ganges river.

Make sure to attend the Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan, a beautiful and spiritual experience. For a day trip, head to Haridwar, another holy city located just 30 minutes away from Rishikesh.
