Kodaikanal Family Friendly Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kodaikanal Lake
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Kodaikanal Bus Stand

    Start your day at the picturesque Kodaikanal Lake. Take a stroll along the walking path and enjoy the serene view of the lake. You can also hire a boat and paddle around the lake. Afternoon, visit the Bryant Park, which is just a few minutes away from the lake. It is a botanical garden with a wide variety of plants and flowers. In the evening, head to Coakers Walk, a peaceful path with beautiful views of the valley. You can also catch the sunset from here.

  2. Day 2: Pillar Rocks
    20 minutes (8.5 km) from Kodaikanal Lake

    Start your day with a visit to the Pillar Rocks, towering granite cliffs standing at over 400ft high. You can take a short trek to get a closer view of the rocks and enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding hills. In the afternoon, explore the Guna Caves, located a few kilometers away from the Pillar Rocks. The cave is made of three large rock formations and is said to have been discovered during the filming of a Tamil movie. In the evening, head to the Bear Shola Falls, a popular picnic spot and a great place to relax and unwind.

  3. Day 3: Dolphin's Nose
    1 hour 15 minutes (50 km) from Bear Shola Falls

    Start your day early and head to the Dolphin's Nose, a scenic viewpoint that offers a bird's eye view of the surrounding hills and valleys. You can also trek down to the viewpoint and enjoy the lush greenery and the cool breeze. In the afternoon, visit the Berijam Lake, a serene lake surrounded by dense forests. You can take a stroll along the lake or just sit by and enjoy the view. In the evening, head back to the city and visit the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, which is open to the public for a few hours each day.

Recommendations

If you have time, you can also visit the Pine Forest, Green Valley View, and the Kurinji Andavar Temple. You can also take a day trip to the Palani Murugan Temple or the Periyakulam Lake. Don't forget to try the local delicacy, the Kodaikanal Cheese, which is made from fresh milk.
