Kedarnath Shoestring Budget Itinerary - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Kedarnath
    Nearest Airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (125 miles)

    After reaching Kedarnath, settle into your accommodation and take some time to explore the local area. In the morning, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites dedicated to Lord Shiva. Spend the afternoon trekking to Vasuki Tal, a beautiful high-altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. In the evening, enjoy a peaceful walk along the Mandakini River and savor the serene atmosphere of this holy town.

  2. Day 2: Guptkashi and Chopta
    2 hours (35 miles) from Kedarnath

    In the morning, visit Guptkashi, a town known for its ancient temples and stunning natural beauty. Explore the ancient Vishwanath Temple and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Afternoon onward, proceed to Chopta, also known as the "Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand." Take a short hike to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Spend the evening relaxing amidst the picturesque landscapes of Chopta.

  3. Day 3: Auli and Joshimath

  4. Day 4: Badrinath and Mana Village

    On your last day, visit Badrinath, one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Explore the famous Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and take a dip in the hot springs of Tapt Kund. Afterward, continue your journey to Mana Village, the last inhabited village before the Indo-Tibetan border. Visit the Vyas Gufa, believed to be the place where Ved Vyasa composed the Mahabharata. Take a stroll through the village, interact with the locals, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the surroundings. In the evening, head back to Kedarnath.
