Visit the Kedarnath Temple, which is one of the four important temples associated with Lord Shiva. The temple is located at an altitude of over 11,000 feet and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The trek from the town to the temple is around 19 kilometers, and you can either walk or hire a horse or a palanquin. The temple opens at 5:00 AM and closes at 9:00 PM.
Embark on a trek to Vasuki Tal, and experience the scenic beauty of Kedarnath. The trek is 8.3 kilometers and takes around 4-5 hours to complete. Vasuki Tal is a high altitude lake that is surrounded by mountains, and the view is simply breathtaking. Along the way, you will come across the Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary, which is the home of various animals like musk deer, snow leopard, and Himalayan black bear. The best time to visit is from May to November.
Visit Gandhi Sarovar, which is a quaint meadow situated at an altitude of around 14,000 feet. The trek is around 14 kilometers and takes 6-7 hours to complete. The meadow offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan range and is surrounded by mountains. It is believed that Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were scattered in this area. The best time to visit is from May to June and September to November.
Visit the famous Triyuginarayan Temple, which is situated at an altitude of around 6,000 feet. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is believed to have been built over 5,000 years ago. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married here. The temple is surrounded by lush green forests and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan range. It opens at 6:00 AM and closes at 8:00 PM.
If you have more time, you can do the Kedar Valley Trek, which is a six-day trek starting from Kedarnath. For those who have less time, they can skip either the Vasuki Tal or Gandhi Sarovar Trek. Make sure to carry enough warm clothes and comfortable shoes for the treks. Lastly, don't forget to carry valid photo ID proof as it is required for entry to some of the places.
