Experience Hyderabad in 2 Days

  1. Day 1: Charminar and Laad Bazaar
    30 minutes (11 km) from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

    Start your visit to Hyderabad at the Charminar, a 16th-century monument and mosque built by the Qutub Shahi dynasty's fifth sultan. You can climb up the four minarets to watch a mesmerizing view of the city. After exploring Charminar, go to the Laad Bazaar nearby. It is an ancient market best-known for its exquisite bangles, pearls, and semi-precious stones. This market is also famous for its traditional Islamic clothing, silverware, and perfumes. You should plan to spend at least a couple of hours here, exploring the labyrinthine lanes and picking up souvenirs.

  2. Day 1: Golconda Fort
    30 minutes (11 km) from Laad Bazaar

    After your visit to the Laad Bazaar, head to the Golconda Fort. This massive fort was built in the 16th century by the Qutub Shahi rulers. The acoustics of the fort are tremendous, and the hand-clap at the entrance location of the fort can be audible up to kilometer away. It is well preserved, and the various heritage structures visible are quite impressive. Don't forget to visit the light and sound show conducted in the evenings to understand its history and know the legacy of these brave kings a little bit better.

  3. Day 2: Hussain Sagar Lake and Necklace Road
    40 minutes (17 km) from Golconda Fort

    Begin your second day by going to the Hussain Sagar Lake. This artificial lake is centrally located in the city, and you can take a 30 minute boat ride to see the enormous Buddha statue on the 'Rock of Gibraltar' in the middle of the lake. After this, head over to Necklace Road, a promenade surrounding the Hussain Sagar lake, for a leisurely walk. You will find various street artists, vendors, and food stalls set up along the walkway. You can also check out the nearby NTR Gardens for a peaceful experience.

  4. Day 2: Salar Jung Museum and Chowmahalla Palace
    20 minutes (7 km) from Necklace Road

    Next, go to the Salar Jung Museum, which is the third-largest museum in India. It houses one of the world's most extensive collections of art objects, including paintings, sculptures, textiles, manuscripts, carpets, and furniture from different civilizations of the world. After this, make your way to the Chowmahalla Palace. This palace was once the seat of the Asaf Jahi dynasty and provides an insight into its opulence and elegance. The palace has exquisite decoration, chandeliers, lush gardens and fountains and reflects the Indo-European architecture.

You can also indulge yourself in the local cuisine of Hyderabad which is famous for its biryani, or visit a couple of shopping malls and flea markets in the city. If you have less time, you can skip Hussain Sagar Lake and Necklace Road or even Charminar to still cover the significant tourist locations in the city.
