Vasuki Tal, a serene high-altitude lake, is a hidden gem of Kedarnath. The trek to the lake is arduous, and you need to cross glaciers and streams, so it's advisable to have an experienced guide with you. The view of the lake surrounded by imposing mountains and forests is stunning. You can camp for the night beside the lake. Don't forget to carry warm clothes, sleeping bags, and tents as it's freezing at night.
Sonprayag, a scenic confluence of two holy rivers- Basuki and Mandakini, is the perfect place to unwind after the trek. You can take a holy dip, perform rituals, and relax by the river. Sonprayag also has a few local eateries serving delicious Garhwali cuisine; try the authentic "Kaddu ki subzi" and "Phaanu".
If You have an extra day, You can visit Triyuginarayan Temple, located at a 5 hours drive (23 km) from Kedarnath. For a shorter trip, You can skip Vasuki Tal Lake. However, Visiting Kedarnath Temple is a Must. Wear comfortable trekking shoes and warm clothes for all-day trips, carry sunscreen, water bottles, and snacks. Keep your mobile and camera batteries charged. It's advisable to book helicopter services well in advance.
