Visit the Eravikulam National Park, the first national park in Kerala known for its wildlife, trekking trails, and Neelakurinji flowers that bloom once in 12 years. Take the early morning safari to spot the endangered Nilgiri Tahr or hike up to the Anamudi peak, the highest peak in South India with panoramic views of the Western Ghats.
Start your day with a visit to the Echo Point where you can hear your voice reverberate across the lake and mountains. Then, drive up to Top Station for stunning views of the mountains and the valley below. Trek through the Shola forests, visit the tea museums and factory, and buy some tea from the local plantations on your way back.
Head to the Dubare Elephant Camp in Coorg, where you can learn about the ecology, biology, and behavior of elephants, and take a dip with them in the river. Then, visit the Abbey Falls, a popular waterfall surrounded by coffee and spice estates. Take a coffee plantation tour, go on a forest trek, or relax in a hot spring before returning to your hotel.
Start your day with a visit to the Talacauvery, the origin of the river Cauvery, and the nearby temple. Then, drive to Brahmagiri Peak, the highest peak in Coorg, for a trek and breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. Visit the nearby Nagarhole National Park for wildlife watching, birding, and boating before heading back to your hotel.
If you have more time, you can also visit the Tea Museum, Rose Garden, and Mattupetty Dam in Munnar, and the Namdroling Monastery, Raja's Seat, and Talakaveri Wildlife Sanctuary in Coorg. If you have less time, you can skip Abbey Falls or Dubare Elephant Camp. Wear comfortable shoes, carry enough water and snacks, and respect the local culture and wildlife. The best time to visit Munnar and Coorg is from October to May, and avoid visiting during the monsoon season from June to September.
