Start your adventure at the Chamundi Hill, one of the most popular nature spots in Mysore. With an elevation of 1,000m above sea level, it provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and its green surroundings. You can take a cable car ride to the top or climb the 1,000 steps to the ancient Chamundeshwari Temple, dedicated to goddess Durga. Don't forget to stop by the Nandi Statue, a well-known Hindu symbol.
Experience the beauty of the KRS Dam and Brindavan Gardens. The dam, built across the Kaveri River, is the main source of water for the surrounding areas. You can take a boat ride and enjoy the stunning mountain views. Afterwards, head to Brindavan Gardens for a peaceful stroll along the fountains and flower gardens. Be sure to attend the musical fountains show at 6:30 PM, where fountains are synchronized to popular Indian and Western music.
If you have more time, visit the Mysore Zoo, located near the palace, which is home to over 170 species of animals. You can also explore the Karanji Lake and Park, which features boating and a butterfly park. Another must-see spot is the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, which is located 17.6 km from Mysore and is home to a variety of birds, including the painted stork and Indian shag.
If you have less time, skip Chamundi Hill and head straight to KRS Dam and Brindavan Gardens. You can also visit the Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum, which showcases hand-crafted sculptures made from sand or take a heritage walk in the city.
