Talacauvery is the birthplace of the holy river Cauvery. It is located in Brahmagiri Hill and visitors can see the water springing up during the monsoon. A temple dedicated to Lord Brahma is also present here, along with other shrines and stalls selling local delicacies. Visitors can also enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and forests.
Abbey Falls is a popular tourist attraction in Coorg. It is situated amidst coffee plantations and the waterfall falls from a height of 70 feet. Visitors can take a short trek to reach the falls and enjoy the scenic surroundings. However, swimming in the falls is not allowed due to the strong currents.
Raja’s Seat is a garden with a beautiful viewpoint. It was the favorite spot of Coorg’s erstwhile kings. Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the sunset, the hills and valleys, and the distant town below. The garden is adorned with a musical fountain, colorful flowers, and plants.
Dubare Elephant Camp is a natural habitat for elephants with a maximum capacity of 150 elephants. Visitors can interact with the elephants and enjoy a bath with them in the Cauvery River, participate in feeding and other activities. The camp also offers short treks through the forest with expert naturalists.
Nagarhole National Park is a wildlife reserve located between the Bandipur National Park and the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary. It is a habitat for tigers, elephants, leopards, bears, and several species of birds. Visitors are taken on a wildlife safari that lasts around 2 hours and offers breathtaking views of the forest.
For visitors with more time, they can explore the coffee plantations around Coorg, visit the Namdroling Monastery, and try local dishes like the bamboo shoot curry and pandi curry. For those with less time, they can remove Talacauvery or Nagarhole National Park and explore Madikeri’s markets and the Omkareshwara Temple.
