Three-Day Itinerary for Mysore and Ooty

  1. Day 1: Mysore Palace and Chamundi Hill

    Start your day at Mysore Palace, the official residence of the Wadiyars, the former ruling family of Mysore. The palace is a stunning blend of Hindu, Rajput, Muslim, and Gothic architectural styles. Next, visit Chamundi Hill to see the magnificent Chamundeshwari Temple and catch panoramic views of Mysore from the top of the hill. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Durga and has a 40-metre tall statue of her.

  2. Day 2: Botanical Garden and Ooty Lake
    Ooty Lake is 30 minutes (19 km) from Botanical Garden

    Start your day at Government Botanical Garden, which is home to more than 650 species of plants. A highlight of the garden is the fossilized tree trunk, believed to be 20 million years old. Next, visit Ooty Lake which was built in 1824 by John Sullivan. You can enjoy a pleasant boat ride here surrounded by the beautiful scenery.

  3. Day 3: Doddabetta Peak and Tea Factory Tour
    Tea Factory Tour is 10 minutes (4.7 km) from Doddabetta Peak

    Start your day with a visit to Doddabetta Peak, which is the highest peak in the Nilgiri Hills. You can enjoy picturesque views of Ooty from the top. Next, head to a Tea Factory for a tour where you can learn about the tea making process and finish with some tea tasting. If there is enough time, then you can also visit the nearby Pykara Lake and Waterfall.

If you have less time, then you can skip the Tea Factory tour and visit Pykara instead. It is recommended to visit the gardens and lakes in the morning to avoid the crowds.
