2-Day Rishikesh Itinerary for Families

  1. Day 1: Ganga Aarti Ceremony at Triveni Ghat
Accessible via 15-minute drive from Swarg Ashram

The Ganga Aarti is a must-see event in Rishikesh, held daily on the banks of the Ganges River. Triveni Ghat is among the most popular locations for this event. People gather there daily to watch the ceremony. The atmosphere is filled with incense sticks, sounds of ringing bells, and chanting hymns. The view of the lit-up candles floating in the river is just remarkable. Do make sure that you arrive early to get a better view of the ceremony.

  2. Day 1: Lakshman Jhula
Approximately 10 minutes (3.6 km) drive from Triveni Ghat

Lakshman Jhula is a 450ft long suspension bridge that is associated with Hindu mythology. It is believed that Lord Rama’s younger brother, Lakshman, crossed the river Ganges using this bridge. Nowadays, people visit this place to enjoy the scenic view of the river and shop for souvenirs or clothing. You can walk along the bridge while enjoying the view. You can also visit the nearby temples, the most popular of which is the Lakshman Temple.

  3. Day 1: Beatles Ashram
Approximately 15 minutes (3.5 km) drive from Lakshman Jhula

The Beatles Ashram was once known as the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram. It was where the Beatles stayed in 1968 and wrote much of their "White Album". This ashram is now a favorite spot for both tourists and locals. The ashram is located on the outskirts of Rishikesh, surrounded by lush greenery and different art installations made of recyclables. You can enjoy a walk at the park and admire the graffiti, the quotes, and the artwork.

  4. Day 2: Rajaji National Park
Approximately 45 minutes (17 km) drive from Swarg Ashram

Rajaji National Park is famous for its wildlife and forest cover. It is home to several animals such as elephants, tigers, leopards, and different bird species. The best way to explore this park is by taking a safari ride, which lasts about 2-4 hours. You can choose from Jeep Safaris, Elephant Safaris, or Jungle Walks led by forest guards. Don't forget your camera, as you never know what fascinating creature you’ll spot.

  5. Day 2: Neer Garh Waterfall
Approximately 30 minutes (5.7 km) drive from Rajaji National Park

Neer Garh Waterfall is among the most relaxing places in Rishikesh. It is approximately 25 feet tall, an inviting spot for refreshment after a hot safari day. You can take a dip in the driving pool that gathers at the waterfall's foot or sit, relax, and enjoy the view of the forest. In winter, the water gets too cold, so make sure to visit during warmer months for a more pleasant experience.
