Varkala Beach is where the great Arabian Sea meets the cliffs of red laterite and verdant trees. Enjoy the views while taking a walk at the golden sandy beach where you can sunbathe and swim in the warm waters. The beach also boasts of many restaurants and snack stalls on the beach, where one can savor traditional Kerala dishes while enjoying the stunning scenery.
The Varkala Cliff is a must-visit for nature lovers. Just a short walk from the Varkala Beach, the Cliff extends over four kilometers along the Arabian Sea shoreline. Located atop a giant red laterite hill, The Cliff is home to several shops and cafes and offers stunning sunset views as you stroll by the shore.
If you have more time, you can add a visit to the Janardhana Swamy Temple or take a day trip to the nearby Kappil Beach. If you have less time, you can skip Varkala Cliff and spend more time at Varkala Beach or vice versa. Remember to bring sunscreen, comfortable clothing and footwear, and plenty of water as temperatures can get high.
