Start your trip by visiting the Yercaud Lake. The picturesque lake is surrounded by gardens and has a boathouse where visitors can rent paddle boats and rowboats. Enjoy a leisurely boat ride and admire the serene surroundings. There are also a few food stalls by the lake where you can try some local snacks.
After an enjoyable morning by the lake, head to the Kiliyur Falls, one of the most popular tourist spots in Yercaud. The waterfall is about 300 ft tall and is surrounded by lush greenery. The trek to the falls is a bit challenging, but the views and the cool breeze make it worth the effort. Swimming is not allowed, but you can dip your feet in the cool water.
As the day comes to an end, visit the Pagoda Point to enjoy the beautiful sunset. The viewpoint offers a stunning panoramic view of the salem city and the nearby hills. There are a few food vendors selling snacks and tea.
Start the second day of your trip at the Lady's Seat, another popular viewpoint in Yercaud. The viewpoint is named after a peculiar rock formation resembling a seat, which was supposedly a favorite spot of a British lady in the colonial era. The view of the valley and nearby villages from the viewpoint is breathtaking.
Next, visit the Rose Garden, which is home to a large variety of roses and other ornamental plants. The garden is divided into different sections featuring various breeds of roses and is a popular spot among nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.
If you have more time, you can also visit the Shevaroy Temple, which is located atop a hill and offers a beautiful view of the valley. The Bears Cave, a natural cave formation, is also worth a visit. However, if you have less time, you can skip the Rose Garden or Pagoda Point and spend more time at other places. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and carry sunblock and water on the trek to Kiliyur Falls.
