Start your Ooty exploration with a visit to Ooty Lake. It is a popular spot for boating and picnics. Surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees, the view of the lake is stunning. You can take a boat ride, hire a bicycle or simply stroll around the lake with your family.
Located around 10 km from Ooty, Doddabetta Peak is the highest mountain peak in Nilgiri Hills. You and your family can trek to the top of the mountain and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Later, head to a nearby tea factory to witness the tea-making process and even do some tea-tasting.
On the last day of your family trip, drive down to Emerald Lake - the picturesque lake surrounded by dense forests, tea gardens and rolling hills. You can take a boat ride, go fishing, or explore the surrounding hills on a trek. Afterward, head to Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary to spot some of the exotic flora and fauna of South India and take a jungle safari.
If you have more time, you can visit other popular attractions such as the Ooty Botanical Garden, St. Stephen's Church, and Government Museum. Alternatively, you can extend your trip by spending a night at a homestay overlooking the hills to experience the local culture and cuisine. If you have less time, skip the tea factory visit or the jungle safari.
