Start your day with a visit to the Promenade Beach and watch the sun rise over the Bay of Bengal. Take a stroll around the French Quarters and admire the beautiful architecture and colourful streets. Next, visit the Bharathi Park and the Governor's Palace to learn more about the region's history. End your day at Aurobindo Ashram, a spiritual community founded by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, and attend their evening meditation session.
Start your morning at the Matri Mandir in Auroville, a unique experimental township. Admire the stunning architecture of the structure, which represents the spiritual significance of light. Next, head to the nearby Auro Beach for a refreshing swim. After lunch, visit the Promenade Beach for some beach volleyball or rent a bike and ride along the beach road. Witness the sunset at the picturesque Paradise Beach and have dinner at the nearby Seagulls Restaurant, which serves delicious seafood.
Embark on a Heritage Walk to explore the many beautiful temples and old buildings in the city, including the Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple and the Sri Vedapureeswarar Temple. Take a break and have lunch at the popular Baker Street bakery. After spending some time at the Puducherry Museum, visit the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is a stunning white church built in the Gothic style. End the day with a leisurely walk around the Botanical Gardens and enjoy the beautiful flowers and trees.
If you have an extra day, consider a day trip to the nearby Gingee Fort or the Sri Aurobindo Handmade Paper Factory. If you have less time, you can skip some of the beach visits or temple visits. Avoid visiting during monsoon season (October - December), as many outdoor activities will be unavailable. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing for the heritage walks and bring sunscreen and a hat for the beach visits.
