Spend your first day at one of the most beautiful beaches in India - Varkala Beach. It's known for its crystal-clear waters and golden sands. It's also an excellent spot for surfing and other watersports. Take a dip in the sea or get your perfect tan on the beach. At night, be sure to hit up one of the popular beach clubs for some live music, drinks and dancing until dawn.
Start your day with a morning hike to the gorgeous Helipad Cliff. It offers a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding areas. Next up, take a visit to the Janardhana Swamy Temple, which is a significant Hindu pilgrimage centre. The temple is a stunning example of traditional Kerala architecture that includes a massive entrance tower.
Spend your third day relaxing and rejuvenating your senses with a traditional Ayurvedic spa session. There are many spas and wellness centres in and around Varkala that offer a wide range of Ayurvedic treatments. After your spa session, head to North Cliff for shopping and dining. It is a bustling street lined up with shops selling everything, from souvenirs to fashion accessories. You'll also find a wide range of restaurants that offer various world cuisines.
Your final day in Varkala must include a visit to the Kappil Beach, which is a serene and peaceful beach located north of the village. You can take a long walk on the beach or paddle in the waters. You can also opt for a guided boat tour through the Backwaters, which includes both a scenic and peaceful green landscape with a unique fishing community on the water.
If you have additional time, you can visit other nearby beaches such as Odayam Beach and Papanasam Beach. You can also learn how to cook traditional Keralan cuisine by taking a cooking class or try your hand at kitesurfing. If you have less time, we recommend skipping the Ayurvedic Spa and shopping and adding those hours to your beach and water activities. Remember to keep yourself hydrated and wear sunscreen while exploring Varkala.
