Start your trip by visiting Abbey Falls, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Enjoy the scenic walk to the falls through the coffee plantations. You can also trek down to the Kali Mata Temple located near the waterfall. Do not forget to bring an extra set of clothes as you will surely get wet under the falls!
Visit Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can have a wonderful time amidst the forest, river, and elephants! The camp offers activities like elephant bathing, feeding, and rides (at an additional cost). You can also take a coracle boat ride and spot some wildlife roaming around in the jungle. There is a small snack counter and a souvenir shop as well.
Complete your trip by visiting two important religious sites of Coorg. Talacauvery is the origin of river Cauvery, and it is believed that taking a dip in the holy water will cleanse your sins. A temple dedicated to the river goddess is also present. A short drive from here leads you to Bhagamandala Temple, a temple complex where three rivers meet - Cauvery, Kannika, and the subterranean Sujyothi. You can also visit the nearby Padi Igguthappa Temple.
Coorg is a perfect weekend getaway destination for families looking for a peaceful and naturally beautiful place. However, if you have more time, you can also visit other places like Raja's Seat, Nagarhole National Park, Nisargadhama, and the coffee estates to experience the best of Coorg's culture and nature. If you have less time, you can skip Talacauvery and Bhagamandala Temple and instead visit the Golden Temple (Tibetan Monastery) or the Chiklihole Reservoir.
