The tea gardens of Munnar are a must-visit for families. Start with the Kanan Devan Tea Museum located in the middle of a tea plantation. Here you can learn about the history of tea in the region and enjoy a demo of the tea-making process. You can also take a walk around the tea plantations to enjoy the scenic beauty. After a quick lunch break, head to the Mattupetty Dam which is a small and beautiful lake surrounded by green hills. You can choose to go boating or just sit by the dam and take in the views. Finally, end your day by visiting the Attukal Waterfalls, which have several small waterfalls and streams worth exploring. Be sure to bring a change of clothes for the kids as Attukal has a natural pool where you can swim.
Begin your second day with a trip to the Eravikulam National Park, which is home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. You can take a guided trek through the park to see these animals in their natural habitat and enjoy views of Munnar from a high vantage point. Afterwards, head to the Fun Forest Adventure Park, which has several tree-top activities for kids and adults. Visitors can enjoy ziplining, rope bridges, swing nets and other activities that will keep the kids engaged for several hours. Finally, end your trip on Munnar's Famous Chocolate Factory where you can watch chocolate being made and indulge in one of the many chocolate treats available.
If you have more time, consider adding the Top Station View Point and the Echo Point to your itinerary. If you have less time, you might want to skip the chocolate factory or the Fun Forest Adventure Park. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and clothes, and carry sunscreen and hats as the sun can be quite strong in Munnar. Do not forget to bring a change of clothes and a towel for your visit to Attukal Waterfalls.
