8-Day Itinerary for Kedarnath

  1. Day 1: Arrive in Kedarnath
    From Jolly Grant Airport to Kedarnath (230 km, 8 hr drive)

    Arrive in the sacred town of Kedarnath and visit the famous Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

  2. Day 2: Sonprayag and Gaurikund Trek
    From Kedarnath to Sonprayag (about 20 km) and then to Gaurikund via trek (14 km)

    Embark on a scenic trek from Sonprayag to Gaurikund and witness the confluence of Son-Prayag and Mandakini River. Reach Gaurikund and witness natural hot springs.

  3. Day 3: Triyuginarayan Temple and Guptkashi
    From Gaurikund to Triyuginarayan Temple (12 km) and then to Guptkashi (about 20 km)

    Visit the ancient Triyuginarayan Temple, where Lord Shiva and Parvati got married, and later head to Guptkashi and explore its beautiful landscapes and local markets.

  4. Day 4: Deoria Tal and Chopta
    From Guptkashi to Sari (about 40 km) and then to Deoria Tal via trek (about 3 km). Later, head to Chopta (about 27 km)

    Explore the beautiful Deoria Tal, a pristine lake surrounded by snow-capped Himalayan peaks, and continue the trek to reach Chopta and witness the stunning vistas of Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary.

  5. Day 5: Tungnath and Chandrashila Trek
    From Chopta to Tungnath (about 4 km) and then to Chandrashila summit (about 1.5 km)

    Begin your trek from Chopta to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world. Later, hike to the summit of Chandrashila Peak and witness breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas.

  6. Day 6: Kalimath and Ukhimath
    From Chopta to Kalimath (about 28 km) and then to Ukhimath (about 6 km)

    Visit the revered temple of Kalimath, dedicated to Goddess Kali, and later head to Ukhimath, a picturesque hill station known for its ancient temples and natural beauty.

  7. Day 7: Rudraprayag
    From Ukhimath to Rudraprayag (about 60 km)

    Visit the mesmerizing confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini River at Rudraprayag, and explore the scenic beauty and diverse flora and fauna of the region.

  8. Day 8: Depart from Kedarnath
    From Kedarnath to Jolly Grant Airport (about 230 km, 8-hour drive)

    Depart from the holy town of Kedarnath with memories of beautiful temples, serene lakes, majestic peaks, and lush green forests.

If you have more time, you can visit nearby places like Badrinath, Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, Several waterfalls like Vasuki, Kedarnath, Gauri Kund, etc. If you have less time, you can skip Kalimath and Rudraprayag visit and cover the other places in your trip. Also, carry comfortable shoes and warm clothes, as the weather may get colder in the higher elevations.
