Pahalgam is a picturesque valley nestled amid the Himalayas and is also known as the Valley of Shepherds. The Lidder River flows through this charming village, which is surrounded by dense forests of pine and deodar trees. Take a scenic trek to the Aru Valley, admire the beauty of the Betaab Valley, or go trout fishing in the Lidder River. Make sure to visit the iconic Mamleshwar Temple, which dates back to the 12th century.
Yusmarg, also known as Yousmarg, is a small meadow with peaceful surroundings and stunning views of the Pir Panjal mountain range. Take a leisurely walk amidst picturesque fields and meadows, relax by the Doodh Ganga River or take a pony ride to Nilnag Lake. The famous Charar-i-Sharief shrine, a sacred Muslim shrine, is also located nearby.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Dachigam Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to the endangered Kashmiri stag and a variety of bird species. For a more relaxed itinerary, spend an extra day in Pahalgam to explore the town's local culture and heritage. If you have less time, you can skip Yusmarg and spend more time in Sonamarg and Pahalgam, or consider taking a scenic road trip through some of the stunning mountain passes in the region.
