Start your day by visiting Talakaveri, the source of River Kaveri, which is located on top of the Brahmagiri hills. Enjoy the scenic beauty and visit the temple dedicated to Lord Brahma. You can also trek to nearby hills for a panoramic view of the surroundings. Afterward, head to Bhagamandala, which is a temple complex where three rivers- Kaveri, Kannika, and Sujyothi meet, and it's a place of great spiritual importance. You can also visit the nearby temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Today, visit the Dubare Elephant Camp, which provides an opportunity to learn about elephants and their habitat. You can also watch the elephants being bathed and trained, which is a delightful sight. Take a dip in the River Kaveri and enjoy a coracle ride. Later head to the Nisargadhama island, a beautiful picnic spot with lush greenery. You can also go boating or simply relax in the serene surroundings.
On your last day, visit Abbey Falls, a magnificent waterfall located amidst coffee plantations. You can take a refreshing dip in the pool below the falls. Next, head to the Raja's Seat, a viewpoint that provides a stunning panoramic view of the valley below. It has been a popular spot for the kings to watch the sunset. You can also visit the nearby Madikeri Fort, which was built by the Kodava kings and has a museum displaying historical artifacts.
If you have more time, you can visit the Talacauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to various species of flora and fauna. The Iruppu Falls is another popular waterfall, located 50 km away from Madikeri. If you have less time, you can skip the visit to Bhagamandala and spend more time exploring the Dubare Elephant Camp and Nisargadhama. Make sure to carry comfortable shoes for trekking and a raincoat during the monsoon season as it tends to rain heavily.
