Begin your Mysore adventure by visiting the magnificent Mysore Palace. This architectural marvel is a perfect amalgamation of Indo-Saracenic style and creates an atmosphere of a royal era. Walk through the halls and take a look at the stunning designs and intricate carvings on the doors and walls. You can also catch the grand lighting ceremony that happens every evening at the palace.
Head over to the Brindavan Gardens, located just a few kilometres outside of the city. The garden is spread over 60 acres and features a collection of terraces, garden art and colourful fountains. You can spend some relaxing time by the river, admiring the beauty of the surroundings, and clicking some pictures amongst nature.
Start your second day by visiting the Chamundeshwari Temple, which is located atop the Chamundi Hills. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is a perfect example of Dravidian architecture. From the hilltop, you can get an uninterrupted view of the city and surrounding countryside.
If you're an animal lover, then the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, also known as Mysuru Zoo, is a must-visit. The zoo houses a wide range of animal species, including tigers, lions, giraffes, elephants, and many others. You can also take a safari tour, visit a butterfly park and observe various migratory birds.
If you have more time, then you can add a visit to the Jaganmohan Palace Art Gallery and St. Philomena's Church to your itinerary. Alternatively, if you have less time, you can skip the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens and spend more time exploring the city or visiting the local markets. Don't forget to carry a water bottle and wear comfortable walking shoes.
