Exploring Munnar in Three Days

  1. Day 1: Tea Gardens and Waterfalls
    Start your day at Tata Tea Museum which showcases the history and evolution of tea plantations in Munnar. Spend around 1 hour exploring the exhibits and learning about the tea-making process. Afterward, head to the scenic Mattupetty Dam (1 hour, 10 km), where you can take a boat ride and enjoy the serene surroundings. Next up, visit the Attukad Waterfalls (20 minutes, 9 km). The relaxing sound of the waterfall and greenery around will make you feel rejuvenated. Finish your day by watching the sunset at Top Station (1 hour, 37 km), the highest point in Munnar which offers an awe-inspiring view of the Western Ghats.
  2. Day 2: National Parks and Spice Gardens
    Breath in Munnar's wildlife and nature by starting your day with a visit to Eravikulam National Park (1 hour, 13 km). The park is home to endemic species such as the Nilgiri Tahr and offers some excellent hiking trails. After a good nature walk, take a 20-minute drive (7 km) to Munnar Spice Garden and learn about the medicinal properties of the spices along with other facts. You can finish your day by relaxing at the Chinnakanal Waterfalls (1 hour, 20 km), that is surrounded by lush greenery and provides a perfect spot for some excellent pictures with the refreshing sound of gushing water.
  3. Day 3: Adventure and Culture
    Spend your last day with some adventure and cultural activities starting at Kolukkumalai Tea Estates (1 hour 40 minutes, 35 km), one of the highest tea plantations worldwide. Enjoy the mesmerizing views of the sun rising while sipping on some hot tea. Then drive for around 30 minutes (10 km) to the Meesapulimala Trekking Trail which offers breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. Afterward, you can visit the Muniyara Dolmens (1 hour, 30 km), which contains megalithic structures and is an ancient site of cultural and historical significance.

Useful Tips

If you have an extra day, you can go camping at the beautiful Anamudi Shola National Park. If you have less time, you can choose to do either the Tea Gardens and Waterfalls day or the National Parks and Spice Gardens day. However, these are the must-visit places in Munnar if you want a complete experience of the serene town. Make sure to carry water bottles, comfortable shoes, and your camera to capture the breathtaking views. The best time to visit Munnar is from September to May when the weather is pleasant.
